Michael Thabo Ramabeletsa was born and raised in Thokoza, where his amateur boxing career began in 1999. He attended Leratadima Primary School and Katlehong Technical High School before studying Electrical Engineering at Johannesburg College.

Michael competed at multiple national championships, becoming Eastern Gauteng and Gauteng champion, and earning the South African Amateur title twice. He was lined up for Commonwealth Games contention before an injury halted his career for two full years.

With the support of Soweto legend Dingane Thobela, he returned to fitness and turned professional in 2009. His power, speed and agility caught attention beyond South Africa, and he eventually relocated to the UK — training alongside British and Commonwealth Champions Jason Booth and Lee Haskins (IBF World Champion), and sparring with Tyson Fury (WBC heavyweight champion, WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO titles).

Michael secured the English Super Bantamweight titleby first-round knockout — a result Boxing News called a “Sensational Win” — and has accumulated over 19 professional career wins.

In 2023, Michael returned to where it all started. TMR Tokoza Boxing Academy is his commitment to give back to the East Rand community — turning Thokoza's talent into world-class champions.
